Tero Laaksonen

The painter Tero Laaksonen (b.1953) lives and works in Helsinki. He has studied at the Finnish Academy of Arts.

Laaksonen made his first solo exhibition in 1976 at the Gallery of the Finnish Painters’ Union as the debutant of the year.

For more than four decades, Tero Laaksonen has participated in numerous joint exhibitions in Finland and abroad. His work can be found in several collections of museums, foundations and public administration.

Laaksonen has been awarded, among others, with the Finnish Cultural Foundation’s Fine Arts Prize and the Finnish Art Society’s Dukate Prize.

He was elected Young Artist of the Year in 1986. He received a five-year State Artist Grant in 1985, 1993 and 2010.

In 2003 Laaksonen was awarded the Pro Finlandia Medal of the Order of the Lion of Finland and in 2018 he received the title of Professor.
